So much to talk about.. I really shouldn't let all this writing pile up.

Last week was mid-semester break, which was really relaxing. I really did nothing, but it was time I enjoyed wasting, so I guess it wasn't wasted. Friday night, the guys decided that they were going to have a Bourne movie marathon. I'd only ever seen the first, but I wasn't that into watching them, but then I got sucked in. They are some very good action movies. Even I got sucked in. And now Brian keeps attacking me with a pen, a book, a magazine, and a towel (in various combinations) because Brian thinks he's Jason Bourne.
We also played lots of poker. Not for money, of course. At one point, I was totally dominating, but then Brian destroyed me, as per usual. Brian spent that entire night just ruthlessly insulting and then beating me. The highlight was probably when he was telling me to put in money as the big blind.
"You know why you're the big blind Elaine?"
"What?"
"Because you've been blinded by your ugliness."

OUCH, Brian Kim.

This past week I participated in my first leaf fight! It was amazing!! There are piles and piles of leaves everywhere, making it really beautiful. Near Webster there are a line of pine trees and I was walking by with the wind blowing and the pine needles were falling like snow, cascading down to join their fallen compatriots in a sweet repose. It's supposed to snow soon, and the other night it was below 0 Celsius!!! AHH!! What am I going to do??? I'm the one who always complains about the cold, something everyone seems to like to joke about.

Saturday, I went to NYC for my seminar. At first I wasn't sure if it was going to be a good day, since I didn't really know the people in my seminar well, or if I did, I didn't want to. But it turned out to be an amazing day! I have to go to history now, so I'll post more today. I promise!

I'm currently sitting in my room after lunch with my laundry going across the hall, listening to Death Cab for Cutie, whom I have finally discovered. Tim brought over his huge case of probably 500 CDs for Shannon and I to peruse and steal at leisure, and so a lot of alternative bands, such as Death Cab, Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday, and Switchfoot have been added. :) Another product of this is that Elaine has a billion songs on her itunes that she's never listened to. Bad! But I guess it's a nice problem to have. McFly are still the best band ever. Their new album is amazing!!

Enough with the music review. Now to the sports! (I feel like a newspaper, which is perhaps appropriate.)
I have been temporarily/slightly converted into a baseball fan, or at least, a watcher. Since the Boston Red Sox are currently involved in a gripping playoffs against the Anaheim Angels, and since I am a Southern Californian currently in Massachusetts, I am caught in the crossfire. Thus, I have been spending some of my nights (such as last night) sitting amidst crazy Red Sox fans, raising their ire by being a devout Angels fan. :) YAY ANGELS!!!! They won last night!! What's funny is that no one on my floor is from Massachusetts, so people like Shannon (Iowa) and Ethan (Ohio) are really crazy. No one beats BRIAN though.. he's from HACIENDA HEIGHTS!! But NO. He somehow supports the Red Sox over the Angels.
I've also been playing intramural soccer on our dorm team. It's AMAZINGLY fun, even though I'm absolutely terrible at it. Whatever. I'm so mad at my dad for never letting me play when I was little because it's too "dangerous." I admit, without shin guards, owww... I still have a bruise from last week.

At lunch today, I was waiting to get my drink and Tom, one of my RCs (our equivalent of an RA) was ahead of me. While he was filling his cups with Gatorade, I went up to him and made it known to him that I did not appreciate him taking so long.
He looked at me in his contemplative way with a grin curling at the edge of his mouth, "F*** you, Elaine!"
I was SO hurt!! I reacted in the standard Elaine way, gasping in shock, and he said, "I wasn't your RC when I said that!" Then he saw Shannon and said, "Shannon!! I like you SO much more than Elaine!!!"
"OUCH!!!" I protested, to which Tom responded, "Fine. Elaine, I like you so much more than Shannon!"
Both Shannon and I protested to this, which made Tom laugh.

Then, after we ate, we saw Tom leaving Val as well, and so we walked with him, and we somehow got into the topic of how Elaine is incapable of walking (which Shannon and I had discussed on the way to lunch because I was walking diagonally and veering her into a tree). Tom wanted to know why I was incapable of walking, and I informed him that I had no idea but that it was a lifelong phenomenon that manifested itself in my constant falls and veering Shannon into trees.
"Maybe you just have a natural instinct for race car driving, Elaine. You just always want to cut people off and swerve corners. You should look into that."
Wow. It took eighteen years, but someone FINALLY explained my life to me. :D :D
MY FUTURE IS SO CLEAR NOW! I knew I came to Amherst for a reason!

Quote of the day:

We're all sitting in the common room and Jorge starts coughing really badly like he's choking.
I say, "Don't die Jorge!!" in the fashion that I always say such things.
In between coughing, Jorge yells, "Shut up, Elaine! Don't tell me how to live my life!"

Last night, we were playing intramural soccer and Jorge was out on the field. Someone yelled at him to do something, and this guy on the other team stopped running and said, "WHAT? THEY HAVE SOMEONE NAMED JORGE ON THEIR TEAM?" and their entire time started laughing. It was pretty sad.
