I have SO much to say!!!
First of all:
-I got my first college acceptance: UCI, so yay at least I'm going to a college.
-I also was invited to apply for Regent's Scholarship for Berkeley. Yay!
I just watched "Paris, Je t'aime" with my mom last night. (Well, she fell asleep about 20 minutes in, as usual. Her and Kathleen.) For those of you who don't know the movie, it's 19 little films, all somehow about love, each located in a different arrondisement of Paris put together into one large film. Each section is by a different director with different actors, and some of them are really famous, even though it's an indie film. There's the Coen brothers, Alfonso Cuaron, Gurinder Chahdra, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Elijah Wood, Juliette Binoche, Natalie Portman, etc.
I really enjoyed it, even though there were some very strange parts. But with the exception of the one part with the vampiress and Elijah Wood, which I sadly, had to skip just becaues I am an easily afraid person, they were all.. beautiful and realistic, even if you never could imagine a situation like that, or didn't quite understand them. It tells about all different sorts of love, parental, amorous, new love, old love, burnt out love, etc. And it's set in the most beautiful city in the world.. Paris. Anyway, enough about it, GO WATCH IT!
It's the second long weekend in a row, which is just spiffy, if I do say so myself. My dad's been in China, which means, though I really miss him, I get to do basically whatever I want! :) Last weekend, Sarah came home with me after layout on Friday and sleptover. We introduced her to REAL Chinese food, which does NOT include, in any way, orange chicken. She told us stories for like two hours (Sarah has the best stories--I should really write them down) and then we watched "Across the Universe," which is BEAUTIFUL, by the way! We sang along and freaked out, as appropriate. I'll never forget "Dear Prudence" now though, after Sarah effectively parodied Max. tehehe
I dropped her off at Troy the next day (after introducing her to 'Moulin Rouge' as well.. what's wrong with this child) before going to Kristina's house to get ready for winter formal. Jen attacked my face and Vicki attacked my hair, and somewhere in between, I think it turned out alright. At least they didnt' make me look like a whore like last time!!
Oh! And we came up with more "whore" jokes, usually a la Vicki. Gosh, Vicki. Is there something you'd like to tell us?
-"Yo ho! Yo ho!"
-"HORrible!"
haha okay so there's not that many.. yet. I shall keep a running list! After much debate and vacillation, the boys (Royston, Shayne, Yogin) came to Kristina's and we messed around in her front yard while her dad went around sneaking photos of us. I did NOT fall off a tree this time around, which is good. Haha I think my favourite moment was when we came out of the house and Jen RAN at Jimmy (her car/love) and hugged him, while Shayne, Yogin, and Royston gazed perplexed.
We all went down to L'Escari's and had lots of Italian food, while I launched spaghetti at Vicki and myself. Okay. So I TOTALLY did not mean to do that. I was recounting Sarah and my parody of Max during "Dear Prudence" in "Across the Universe," where he GLIDES over to the door. Yet somewhere in the midst of my glide, my chair went with me, I landed on the fork, and the spaghetti landed on Vicki's dress and my hair.
It was wonderful. :)
Ice cream was also good afterwards, at Golden Spoon, where we saw the boy with the purple jacket and Yogin BEGGED Shayne to walk him to the bathroom. It was hilarious. The utter look of disdain and disgust upon Shayne's face and the utter look of happiness on Yogin's--what a dichotomy. This is also where Royston waited for 30 minutes to find parking and was labeled "the honker" by Coleen. :)
After that, they all went to the dance and Yogin and I took off on our own and came back to my house where we watched a movie while sitting on my comfy sofa. :D
Monday, my mom and her bf took Vicki and me to Old Town Pasadena, where we spent the day eating French fries, buying clothes, and reading children's books. I bought a jacket and a shirt, but the best part of the day was going into Barnes and Nobles' children's section, sitting on the floor, and reading old books that we have long laid aside but have never forgotten aloud to each other. CORDUROY!!! The Giving Tree. Clifford! It's nice to know that some things never change and that kids these days are still reading.. I hope.
We sang all the way home, mostly Wicked. Vicki's Glinda!!! :) those blonde people...
1 Comments:
just cuz you're in a french faze doesn't mean italian things have needless apostrophes, its not L'Escari's, its Lascari's. :) good job
